Each point is an individual listing, deduplicated by VIN across major online marketplaces so the same car shown in several places counts once. Horizontal position is the asking price, vertical is the odometer, and color is the trim. Circles are listings currently on the market; squares are cars that recently left it. The dashed line is each trim's price-vs-mileage trend — points sitting below their line are priced under the trend for their mileage. Certified Pre-Owned cars carry a dealer premium, so they're judged against other CPO cars, not the whole market.

Type a ZIP and pick a radius to keep only cars near you — the card then shows each one's distance, and the price trend re-medians over just those cars, so you can see your local market rather than the national one. Distance comes from the listed city: sites publish a city, not an address, so it's dealer-city to ZIP-centroid. A few listings name a city too vague to place (a bare "Newark" exists in ten states) and are counted next to the filter rather than quietly dropped.

The Price trend tab plots each trim's median asking price by day, over the same filtered set of cars — so "CPO only" or a single site re-medians the lines rather than just dimming dots. Each day counts the cars actually on the market that day (sold cars drop out), and the tooltip shows the sample size behind every median, since a narrow filter can thin a trim down to a couple of cars.
